The story takes place in the 1980s during the Irish civil war and is based on the supposedly true story of the 22 years old Martin McGartland who was recruited by the British police to become a double agent and infiltrate the IRA.
His mission – to collect inside information from IRA and transmit it to the British – is a very dangerous one. He knows that he’s risking his life but he also realises the importance of his mission and how many lives he can save by continuing it and decides to go on.
But tragedy strikes, his true identity is revealed and he ends up being caught in a crossfire between Irish and British, hunted by both parts. He is caught but manages to pull off a nearly impossible escape and he is forced to decide between saving himself or his family.
