Ladies in Lavender (2005)

Ladies in Lavender Poster

England, 1936. Sisters Ursula and Janet peacefully spend their retirement years in Cornwall.

Peacefully…..until they find a half-dead young man on the beach one morning. They devotedly take care of him and during his convalescence they try to teach him English, in order to communicate better.

They manage to find out that his name is Andrea and that he is Polish and a very talented violin player. The two women fall in love with him and they tend to get really possessive and jealous, but he doesn’t even notice that.

He is in love with Olga Daniloff, the sister of the great violin player Boris Daniloff, now on vacation in Cornwall. She promises him she will help him with his career by introducing him to her brother in London.

Although he is quite attached to the old ladies, Andrea leaves with Olga without telling them a word; he later sends them a portrait of him painted by Olga, a thank you letter and an invitation to his first public concert.
