Les, played by Michael Rapaport, is the male version of a meter maid – a parking enforcement officer – who is unhappy with himself and his job.
After starting to feel depressed, he agrees to participate in a pharmaceutical trial and test a new antidepressant called Special – Specioprin Hydrochloride. The main effect of this drug is removal of self-doubt. So much so that Les starts to feel as if he has developed superpowers.
From this point on, strange things start happening. He thinks he is a telepath and can hear other people’s thoughts, believes he can float in midair or even walk through walls. He is engaged in a variety of comic situations, as his friends can’t tell if he’s really a superhero or merely a nut case. Having found new inner strengths, Les is determined to continue taking the Special pills and live a life of crime fighting.
