‘V for Vendetta’ takes place on the background of a futuristic totalitarian United Kingdom, and tells the story of a middle class girl called Evey who gets saved out of a life and death situation by a masked man known as ‘V’.
Profoundly complex, V is a very fascinating character: artistic, flamboyant, tender and intellectual, a man dedicated to freeing his people from the terror of those in charge; and he is also fierce, revengeful, lonely and violent.
In his attempt to free the people of England, V condemns the tyrannical character of its leaders and asks everybody to join him on the 5th of November, the day of Guy Fawkes.
In memory of that day, V promises to finish what Guy had begun and he is determined to blow away the Houses of Parliament.
He finds himself helped by Evey who has, since their first meeting, discovered the truth about herself and about V and is willing to stand on his side as they plan to start a revolution.
