The magician is always supposed to take care that the balance between good and bad in the fairy tale world is stable.
He does his job quite well but he needs to go on holiday from time to time; so he takes a leave of absence and goes to Scotland.
The magician’s two helpers can’t seem to be able to control things and Cinderella’s step mother puts her hands on the magician’s scepter.
She now controls all the fairy tales and calls all the bad characters to her help; Cinderella will no longer marry the prince and she has to run for her life, and the prince is too silly to be able to save her.
Surprisingly enough, the one who does come to Cinderella’s defense is the castle keeper, who is secretly in love with her.
Basically, it is the two of them and the magician’s helper against the evil step mother fighting for the good of the fairy tale world.
