Tom Hanks plays the role o fan eccentric Southern professor who puts together a group of low-skilled thieves in order to steal the Bandit Queen, a casino boat on the Mississippi.

They rent a room in an old lady’s house that they use as an operations center, and they plan to disguise in the music band members; thus the demolitions expert, the ex-general and the other thieves will have to pretend to be musicians, despite their appearance.

Their plan seems to have no flaws, but they have not taken in consideration an important element: little old Mrs. Munson, the landlady……
