All Jan Dite wants in life is be incredibly rich and run his own hotel….nothing else.

He starts off as a simple clerk in a hotel, and during World War II he manages to become head waiter, but the respect and the money still don’t show up.

That may be because he has granted several favors to the invaders and he is hated by all the Czechs and barely tolerated by Germans.

He falls in love with a young Nazi woman and manages to convince her to marry him, despite her reluctance. This marriage will eventually bring him the money he needs to buy the hotel.

His life seems to be on the right track, but after the purchase a series of events will threaten his dream and even his life.
