‘Slumdog Millionaire’ is the story of Jamal Malik (played by Dev Patel) an 18-year-old orphan from India. The entire action of the movie is set in Mumbai, India.
Malik experiences the most important day of his life when he is just one question away from winning the big prize on “Who Wants to be a Millionaire?”, the Indian version. The whole nation is watching the show, but police arrest Malik on suspicion of cheating. Malik wants to prove his innocence and tells the story of his life about him and his brother and the slum where they grew up. The culminating point of the movie is the moment when Jamal Malik returns to answer the final question of the game show. ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ is a comedy with romantic moments due to Jamal’s love for Latika (played by Freida Pinto).
