Frozen River (2008)
Frozen River (2008)

When her husband runs away with their down payment for a new double wide trailer, Ray Eddie enters the treacherous world of immigrant smugglers to supplement her income.

Ray, a mother of two boys, is in the desperate position of not being able to take proper care of her children.  That’s why when Annie, a Mohawk smuggler, gives her the opportunity to make seemingly easy money, she accepts. That’s how Ray and Annie begin their partnership in crime, transporting Chinese and Pakistani immigrants from the Mohawk reservation in Quebec to the Mohawk reservation in New York across the frozen water of the St. Lawrence River.

Although they are literally walking on thin ice, the money they can make in one single night of smuggling is more than they could make in a month having a regular job. This makes crime an easy choice, but as expected, dirty money comes as a costly price.

Release Date: August 1st, 2008
