‘The Air I Breathe’ is a drama based on an ancient Chinese proverb that splits life into four emotional stages: Happiness, Pleasure, Sorrow and Love. The movie presents four short stories which have the meanings of the four emotional stages. The main character of each story illustrates one of the four emotional feelings.
In “Happiness’, a businessman, played by Forest Withaker, bets all his money on a horse race.
In ‘Sorrow’, Sarah Michelle Gellar, is a pop star, whose contract falls in the hands of mob leader and his nephew.
In ‘Pleasure’, Brendan Fraser plays the role of a man who can read people’s future, but cannot read his own destiny.
In ‘Love’, Kevin Bacon play the part of a doctor who has to save the life of the woman that he loves.
Although every character believes that they are given this destiny, this is the way it was meant to be, the movie shows that we build our own destiny according to the decisions that we make in life.
