Man On Wire (2008)
Man On Wire (2008)

The movie documents what was called “the art crime of the century”, the incredible but illegal stunt performed by French wire walker Philippe Petit in 1974.

In this documentary Petit is given the chance to recount his own story: how he dreamt for six years of waking on a wire connecting the tallest buildings in the world at that time – the twin towers of World Trade Center. We find out how he prepared his stunt, the difficulties he had in carrying out his plan (he had to smuggle the rigging equipment into the buildings at night), and how his life changed after he had attained his goal of wire walking 1,300 feet above the ground.

The director offers archive footages, interviews and testimonials of the people involved in those events or who have witnessed them but also recreations to make the theatrical experience more intense.

Release Date: August 15th, 2008 (limited)

Genre: Documentary

Cast: Philippe Petit (as himself)

Director: James Marsh
