Directed by Edward Zwick, ‘Defiance’ is a new film about the WWII, marked by the concepts of ‘hope’ and ‘solidarity’.
We are looking at a story that takes place in 1941, in Belarus, but it is not your typical American-Nazi war. Based on the book by Nechama, the film tells us about the three Bielski brothers who help a group of Jews get away from Nazi troops.
They form a Russian Resistance Army in order to be able to build a camp in the middle of the forest which is to host 1200 Jews. It is a cruel history which talks once more about the war crimes committed by the Nazis against the Jews refugees, but it is worth seeing.
