In the seventies, the 16-year-old Charlie Banks witnesses an 18-year-old boy named Mick Leary brutally beating two kinds. Charlie secretly tells the police what happened, but later he decides to retract his testimony, disappointing his father.
After a few years, when Charlie and his best friend, Danny, are in college, Mick storms back into their lives, claiming to be in town for a short visit. Charlie is afraid that Mick found out that he’s the one who sold him to the police, and in fact, the purpose of his visit is to make his life a living Hell.
Charlie realizes that Mick is toying with him and that he’s up to something but unfortunately, his friends, including Danny, do not realize that Mick is jut pretending to be nice. In fact they begin to like Mick to the Charlie’s exasperation.
