The Painted Veil

Based on the novel with the same name, written by W. Somerset Maugham, the movie ‘The Painted Veil’ presents the love story of an English couple. The action is placed in the 20s.

Walter is a middle-class doctor, and Kitty is a high society lady. Walter and Kitty get married without loving each other passionately.

They move to Shanghai and there, Kitty falls in love with another man. When Walter finds out about her infidelity, he wants to revenge and accepts a job in a Chinese village. Here everybody suffers from cholera. Walter takes Kitty with him to this village. This trip brings them the passion they needed so much.
