Phoebe is a very smart young girl who chooses to retreat from the world in her own reality, a fantasy-world where she can be whoever she wants to be.
Her drama teacher, who is trying to stage “Alice in Wonderland, inspires the girl to imagine a better reality. This apparently harmless game becomes destructive as Phoebe secludes herself into her fantasy more and more, until the two worlds become indistinguishable. The drama teacher is the only one who understands Phoebe’s peculiarity, which frustrates her mother who begins to consider herself a failure as a parent. Her parents become more and more alarmed by her behavior and even begin to question Phoebe’s sanity to the point that they take her to a psychotherapist.
The girl is disturbed from her fantasies and becomes frustrated because she doesn’t understand what she’s doing wrong. Will the girl realize the dangers of her daydreaming?
