Saraband (2005)

‘Saraband’ is the great contemporary film of Ingmar Bergman.

Johan, a jubilee university Professor retires to a house in the country side. Suddenly, he sees that his refuge is invaded by the appearance of Marianne, his former wife whom he hadn’t seen for 30 years.

In the house next to theirs lives Henrik, Johan’s son, along with daughter Karin. Henrik is a grieving widower and a very dominant father.

Opening old wounds which had never completely healed, Marianne finds herself in an attempt to rescue Karin from the oppressive attitude of her father.
