In the Berlin of 1942, little Bruno is the son of a concentration camp commander.
He has no idea of what the Holocaust means, and the only thing he has noticed is that ever since he moved to an isolated neighbouhood of the city, he has nobody to play with.
One day, while he was watching on the field all those strange persons who
seemed to be wearing stripes pyjamas, he meets a young Jewish boy called Shmue; while they lose their childish innocence together, their friendship will have unexpected consequences.
The film is the screen version of a best-selling book with the same name, written by John Boyne. The film wants to be a fable that offers the image of that terrible phenomenon, seen through the eyes of a child.
In charge of the production was David Heyman, who also produced the ‘Harry Potter’ saga, but the director was Mark Herman.
