The Duchess (2008)

Keira Knightley can now be seen in cinemas and theatres with her latest film, “The Duchess”, a historical drama directed by Saul Dibb.

Knightley embodies a fascinating character, that of Georgiana, the Duchess of Devonshire; a lady of the English Aristocracy, beautiful, stylish and adored by her family and friends, but not by her husband.

Behind the social mask she puts on lies an intelligent and vulnerable woman, trapped in

an unhappy marriage with the Duke of Devonshire (Ralph Fiennes), one of the richest men in England.

She is very much frustrated because of all the restrictions imposed on her, as a woman and as a member of the high society, by the conservative English society and she decides to rebel.

Forced to live under the same roof as her husband’s other woman, lovely Lady Bess Foster, she decides to also have an affair, with Charles Grey, an aspiring candidate to the postion of Prime Minister.

The movie poster also features Charlotte Rampling, Dominic Cooper and Hayley Atwell (lady Bess).
